According to my client, it seems like they were actually fine before this. There are now quite a few broken images.

Okay, I was able to get a backup of the site locally, then rclone everything into R2. Then I edited the file so that the actual copy doesn't happen. Yay Now I have 12 files seeming 'stuck' in the local filesystem. It just loops over and over, and never goes to zero. Thoughts?

Would it be possible to do a background migration, then flip the switch to use R2? That way I wouldn't really care how long it took, and the change (and then rewrite rules) could be somewhat more instant. Also, does it remove the local files? If not, is there an easy way to do that?

Any chance you have ideas to make this migration faster? I'm using it on a client who has shared hosting, so no SSH access. I tried copying 50 at a time, and I think I probably hit some sort of rate limit with the host and the migration got killed. 10 seems to work, but its been running for...

Oh! I missed that the button on the left was a download button! Maybe its just cause I'm an idiot, but I think it would have been more obvious to me if it was on the right, or just had text next to 'view license' that says 'download plugin' or something. ;)

This all makes great sense. In theory, I could rewrite URLs though to prevent issues, right? I'm not sure the client cares, just thinking out loud. Obviously, this would only work when the entire library has been moved. And I agree that I don't think speed is an issue.

Not sure, as this is for a prospective client. They're getting raked over the coals at WPEngine for an 11GB media gallery. No idea yet of average object size. WP Offload Media has worked fantastically in the past for S3, so maybe that helps with a roadmap? IIRC, they do it all over HTTP.

Okay. I was hoping to use WP Offload Media, but it seems they don't support R2.

Do you have a suggested process to move media upload files that already exist into R2?
