Turn off auto upload into cloudflare

I am experiencing difficulties. How can I set up media files that I upload so they don't get directly uploaded to Cloudflare R2? I want to store the zip files for my digital products on my local hosting. Because of this, I always fail to upload large files since they are immediately uploaded/synced to Cloudflare R2.

Is it “by extension” that you would want to define what does/doesn’t go to R2? Currently you can manually send stuff to/from R2, but it wouldn’t be terribly difficult to have a setting where you could define certain extensions that don’t go to R2.

I'm going to follow up here with the same question, as I'm still wrapping my head around R2. I've got everything working well, but would like to know if I can not have uploaded images go automatically to R2 after they are uploaded to the media library, etc?

I'd prefer to manage them manually for now and decided on a per image basis what goes to the R2 bucket. I'm noticing a few problems displaying .svg files for example, so want to keep those local.

I'm sure it's something obvious in rules or settings but I'm a bit unclear. Thanks! 🙂

SVG images are a unique situation because underneath it all, they are text files containing XML. See this post for info about forcing the content-type headers based on file extension rather than the actual content of the file:

Thank you, I did create the content-type rule as per those instructions, but still having some issues. Is there a way to block certain file extensions from automatically having uploaded files going to R2?

There isn’t something currently, but it also wouldn’t be too hard to add. What kind of files are you having issues with exactly?

One example is using plugins that have a .svg file as part of the display. One example is Filebird Documents Library Pro, which has a PDF icon in the plugin file folder for displaying pdf files. With the svg mime type rule enabled, it won't display the file, just a broken image. It displays fine when disabled.

I could replace it in the plugin directory, but then would probably need to do it again after updates, etc.
